5 SEC REVIEW: IN THE GREY
Let me start by saying that this new Guy Ritchie film is not for everyone.
And now that we've laid down some expectations - I have to admit that I really enjoyed watching this, so I am the target audience. It may look and sound like nerdy, intelligent and math-centered but as a whole, it's just the same-old mindless but very entertaining action feature. With the risk of creating dead air, I believe that Ritchie had to make every scenes overly detailed to emphasize on the importance of precision in covert operations. It's like a ground-level view on how operations like this is made to work. Once in a while we get a break to enjoy the banters between lead characters Sid (Henry Cavill) and Bronco (Jake Gyllenhaal) - with Bronco giving out most of the smartass punchlines.
Eiza Gonzales returns in this film as Rachel (Mom). She was seen in two other recent Guy Ritchie films, Fountain of Youth (2025) and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024) which starred Henry Cavill as well.
The film is not without hiccups, not the best one from Ritchie, but it's still a fun ride.
A powerful and intelligent woman, a very effective covert team, an underground economy, a sleezy billionaire, a sniveling lawyer and a fool-proof solid plan. That's what you'll get watching IN THE GREY.
